OPEN STUDIO

Alan LeQuire has been teaching out of his studio space since the early 1980s. As a mentor to emerging artists, he supports the Atelier Method, passing on the body of knowledge of sculpture, working with a small number of students on a weekly basis. Alan is committed to art education and fostering educational initiatives with the goal of inspiring creativity and a love of learning. He continues to host Open Studio at LeQuire Studio (adjacent to LeQuire Gallery) every Tuesday evening for nine months of the year.

Open Studio with Alan LeQuire is a great opportunity to learn from one of Nashville's most accomplished artists, in a stimulating environment at a very affordable rate. And, there are no reservations, so anyone passing through Nashville could stop by on any given Tuesday evening to sit in with this nationally recognized sculptor.

WORKSHOP: Mold Making - Sculpting the Portrait in Clay With Alan LeQuire

Description: National Sculpture Society Sculptor member, Alan LeQuire, is known for his monumental public art, life-like portraiture and relief sculpture. He has been sculpting and making his own molds for 40 years.

LeQuire will demonstrate trowel-on rubber molding methods. Students will create a relief in natural water based clay, mold it in rubber, and cast the mold in plaster for the finished product. LeQuire will provide easy step-by-step instructions. For all skill levels.
